Weather History

May 16 1937

A power cut during stormy conditions didn't stop the congregation at the Methodist Church in Bright Street, Gisborne from enjoying their special Coronation service. A garage proprietor in the congregation used four batteries and four large lights from his garage to light the church. Although the organ hand to be pumped by foot, two difficult Coronation pieces were accomplished.
