Weather History

Heavy rain fell over many parts of New Zealand. Highlighted by extreme intensities in the Wellington region (a site at Lower Hutt recorded 47 mm of rain in the two hours between 5 and 7pm) flash flooding was the worst seen there by some for 20 years. Lighter rain further south, over Canterbury, did little to alleviate the fire risk there.
